Hollie Raynor PhD RD LDN

A Client-centered Approach in Nutrition Counseling

There are several evidence-based counseling strategies that can be used to help change dietary intake.  However, it is often unclear how to combine these approaches to assist with dietary changes.  This session focuses on how to shift from using a more traditional nutrition education approach to a client-centered approach for assessment, treatment planning, and follow-up.  In this session, an overview of the “Instigating and Implementing Eating and Leisure-time Activity Behaviour Change: A Lifestyle Intervention Manual and Toolkit” is provided.  Additionally, how the Toolkit can be integrated into practice is reviewed.  The Diabetes, Obesity & Cardiovascular Network of Dietitians of Canada developed the Toolkit in Collaboration with Dr. Hollie Raynor.
